IM Mail Form – Recipient Routing
IM Mail Form Recipient Routing
IM Mail Form Recipient Routing is an add-on for IM Mail Form that automatically routes administrator notification emails based on submitted form values.
It allows a single form to send inquiries to different email addresses depending on what the visitor selects.
What You Can Do
Recipient Routing lets you define rules that determine where administrator notification emails are sent.
For example, you can route inquiries like this:
- Sales inquiries → sales@example.com
- Recruiting inquiries → hr@example.com
- Support inquiries → support@example.com
Instead of creating separate forms for each department, you can use one form and automatically send each inquiry to the appropriate recipient.
How It Works
Recipient Routing is configured from the Mail Settings tab of the IM Mail Form editor.
Create a routing rule and specify the conditions that determine when the rule should be applied.
A routing rule consists of:
- Source Field — the submitted field used to determine the recipient.
- Operator — whether the submitted value should match or not match the specified value.
- Value — the value used for the comparison.
- Recipient — the email address that receives the administrator notification when the rule matches.
Example
Suppose your contact form contains an Inquiry Type field with these options:
- General Inquiry
- Sales
- Technical Support
You can create a routing rule so that inquiries where Inquiry Type is Sales are sent to your sales team.
The rule could be configured as follows:
- Source Field: Inquiry Type
- Operator: is
- Value: Sales
- Recipient: sales@example.com
You can add additional rules for other inquiry types and route each one to the appropriate recipient.
